George Benson & Joe Farrell - Benson & Farrell

This little-known CTI recording matches guitarist George Benson and Joe Farrell, a multi-reed player who mostly sticks to flute. Joined by a large rhythm section and sometimes two other flutists (including Eddie Daniels), Benson and Farrell play four originals by session arranger Dave Matthews, plus the standard "Old Devil Moon." This pleasing if not all that memorable instrumental date was recorded right after Benson's Breezin' (and before its release), ending the guitarist's CTI period right before he became a vocal star

Joseph Carl Firrantello (December 16, 1937–January 10, 1986), known as Joe Farrell, was an American jazz saxophonist and flutist. He is best known for a series of albums under his own name on the CTI record label and for playing in the initial incarnation of Chick Corea's Return to Forever.

George Benson (born March 22, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)[ is an American musician, whose recording career began at the age of twenty-one as a jazz guitarist. He is also known as a pop, R&B, and scat singer.

Benson uses a rest-stroke picking technique very similar to that of gypsy jazz players such as Django Reinhardt.

The interplay Here between George and Joe is definitely captivating. The songs are arranged by David Matthews . The level of musicianship is high and one can not deny Benson's mastery of the instrument which is evident here as well as his more acclaimed 'Jazz' albums. A few tracks that stand out: Flute Song is mellow with great interplay between the the artists. Old Devil Moon gets the two of them really cooking well with very fine flute work from Farrell and great guitar interjections from Benson, with Gary King maintaining a great groove... George Benson says: "I just want the freedom to express myself... I just want the room to dance on my instrument".......http://rapidshare.com/files/263042089/Benson___Farrell.rar
